Vintage Pendant Serves Up Old World Charm in German Bakery
Are you dismayed to discover that October is half over and the reality is that you’re probably not going to make it to Germany this year for Oktoberfest? Well, if international travel isn’t in your schedule or budget this fall, consider a trip to Manhatten for a visit to Landbrot, a German bakery and bar that is celebrating the rich goodness of German’s culinary scene all month long.
The restaurant, whose names means country bread, serves up everything from pretzels and dark roasted coffees to strudel, sausages, and of course a variety of German micro brews. The industrial loft style space definitely has a New York vibe going but with the coziness of a traditional German cafe. Patrons park at industrial stools while vintage pendants hang above the marble bar.
These pendants are very similar to our Magnolia Pendant, a delicate glass shade pendant that adds a touch of elegance with its timeless appeal. The Magnolia comes in three shade sizes and four traditional finishes — Old Bronze, Aged Brass, Historic Nickel, or Polished Nickel. This fixture can be stem mounted for a formal look or choose the cloth cord for a more casual feel. The nostalgic Edison Style Light Bulb and paddle switch that come with your order add the perfect finishing touches to this lovely pendant. The Edison bulbs, with a definite turn of the century look to them, come in a variety of shapes and sizes from a 20 watt Hairpin Light Bulb to a 40 watt Spiral Light Bulb or a 60 watt 1910 Era Bulb.
For a complementary wall light, don’t miss the matching Magnolia Sconce, a classic light for both home and office. Available in the same finish choices as the pendant, this sconce is rated for damp locations so consider it for your front porch, hallway, or other entryway to greet visitors with a warm glow.
