When the concourse area at the 104-year-old ballpark needed a lighting update, the designers turned to Barn Light Electric for a vintage-inspired, yet technologically advanced solution. ... Creating handcrafted lighting from scratch requires high-quality materials, a multitude of steps, and plenty of hands. Luckily, we have an abundance of all three to create our vintage-inspired barn lighting and porcelain enamel lighting here at Barn Light Electric. After light shades are spun from raw metal in the machine shop, they are prepped for painting. Depending upon the metal used, shades are either powder coated, galvanized, or sent to the porcelain department for finishing. Like so many home projects, Kasey’s new mudroom design started with inspiration from Pinterest. Kasey, who writes the blog SBK Living, and her husband, are recent transplants to Sun Valley, Idaho, where they have spent the last two years completing a gut remodel of an older home. “It’s technically a remodel, but we demolished most everything except the foundation,” Kasey says. “We added square footage to create a ‘new’ modern farmhouse.” The Pinterest photo that caught Kasey’s eye was a clean, white mudroom paired with a farmhouse sink, black hardware, and barn pendants. ... When Laura and Barrett built a second home in Beaufort, South Carolina, they turned to the local Gullah culture as inspiration. Gullah is a term describing the language, food, art, and music of the West African peoples who came to America through Beaufort on slave ships. Vibrant colors characterize Gullah primitive art which Laura featured in her new guest room. “We have a wonderful piece of Gullah art in this room — a watermelon stiletto — by Monikue Harley Cooper,” Laura says. When choosing lighting for the space, Laura honed in on Barn Light Electric’s Watermelon finish color for the bedside wall sconces. ... Read More
