Featured Customer | Industrial Lighting Creates Retro Atmosphere for Brewery

Like many craft brewers, Sherry Stead got her start with a home brew kit. For almost 20 years, Sherry tinkered with her home brew recipes much to the delight of her family and friends in Homer, Alaska. Last May, Sherry and her family realized their dream of opening a local brewery which includes an industrial styled tasting room.

“The Grace Ridge Brewing tasting room is located in a new building,” Sherry says. “I wanted to create an industrial look that used metal and wood with a retro feel.” Because the tasting room has a very tall ceiling, Sherry searched for industrial pendant lights to accent the space.

The American-made Brisbane Cord Hung Pendant fulfilled Sherry’s desire for an industrial look. She had five of these handcrafted, RLM-inspired ceiling lights, finished in a durable Black powder coat, installed over the main space.

“All of our accents are black and I liked the cord for ease of hanging,” Sherry explains. “We are also located next to Kachemak Bay and the guard-and-glass design is a nice marine accent.” Sherry customized these industrial pendants with clear glass for a clean, bright look.

In the restroom, Sherry continued the retro feel of her space with a classic porcelain enamel gooseneck light. The Goodrich® Dino Porcelain Gooseneck Light offers downward focused light onto the custom vanity. Yes, that’s a keg supporting the sink!

This custom-made gooseneck features a 12″ shade, creamy Jadite finish, and a G26 gooseneck arm in Brushed Aluminum.

Adding to the retro feel of the bathroom is a Principal Clear Schoolhouse Semi-Flush Mount Light. This ceiling light is customized with a small, clear glass globe and matching Jadite fitter.

“I wanted American-made lights that are simple and have functional, clean lines,” she notes. “People rate the bathroom very highly!”

Grace Ridge Brewing attracts a steady stream of locals and tourists alike thanks to the tasty brews and welcoming atmosphere.

“When guests come in, they all compliment on the friendly feel of the space,” Sherry says. “The lights pulled everything together and we could not be happier.”
