Featured Customer | LED Post Mount Lights Guide Visitors to New Attraction

Will you be among the millions flocking to amusement parks this summer to experience the latest thrilling rides? Our friends at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, have created a spectacular 4-D interactive ride called Voyage to the Iron Reef that opened to rave reviews in May.

“I rode it on opening day and it was awesome,” says Andy Romanski, outside salesman with American Electric who worked with the company on the exterior lighting for the new attraction. “The ride takes you on a journey to the bottom of the ocean where you battle sea creatures with a freeze ray.” Andy was on hand in May to celebrate the opening of the attraction after months of behind-the-scenes preparations.

When it came to choosing the outdoor lighting, Andy explains that the lead time was critical to meeting the opening day deadline. He worked with Becky McDermott of Kirk Sommer Sales, Inc., a commercial representative for Barn Light USA.

“Barn Light Electric delivered 100 percent,” Andy says. “We give a lot of respect and kudos to Barn Light Electric because they quoted and they delivered, and that’s rare in this industry.” The company chose four Aero Decorative Double LED Post Mount Lights to accent the entrance and waiting area to the new ride. The 16″ shades were finished in an Oil Rubbed Bronze and feature a 1250 lumen LED component with a domed lens. They also opted for the 2700K warm white temperature for the LED.

“When we received the boxes, the lights were packaged very well to stay protected, and everything was included,” Andy adds. “All we had to do was install them.” This Aero Post Mount Light features two porcelain enamel shades hand spun from commercial grade steel. Their shallow bowl styling lends a modern look while the LED components offer energy efficient and environmentally friendly lighting. In commercial settings, LED lighting is critical for lowering energy bills and reducing maintenance time and costs.

“There were a lot of entities at work on this project — the entertainment department, construction department, maintenance department — and Barn Light Electric came through for us,” Andy says. “We will definitely consider using Barn Light Electric on future projects.”
