Featured Customer | Galvanized Barn Pendants Lend Rustic Touch to BBQ Restaurant

Saluda, North Carolina, may be home to only 600 year-round residents, but thanks to summer tourists and seasonal residents, the city’s Main Street is alive with shoppers in June, July, and August, and the nearby Green River teems with kayakers and other water adventurers. Local businesses cater to these crowds and the Green River BBQ does a booming business. Today’s Featured Customer, Melanie, started Green River BBQ in 1984 and has been serving up authentic southern barbeque ribs, chicken, turkey, and beef to hungry customers ever since. Melanie has been slowly adding to her restaurant and recently upgraded her lighting to include some classic RLM-inspired barn pendant lights.

“It was a small block building and I initially added a kitchen and barbeque pit,” Melanie says. “Seven years ago I added a small bar with seating for three when beer and wine sales were approved, but this year a local kayaking operation is expanding and putting a zip line over the Green River Gorge so we’ll have even more tourists coming to Saluda.” Melanie expanded the bar area during her recent renovations and, as you can see in these before-and-after photos, she added the new lighting to complement the comfortable, down-home look of her space which features galvanized panels on the bar and a beautiful tin ceiling.

Melanie chose Barn Light Electric’s 17″ Warehouse Cord Hung Pendant, part of our collection of Warehouse Lighting, in a Galvanized finish with a Black guard. This versatile pendant is included in our selection of Discount Barn Lighting and comes in your choice of six finish colors. The guard may be customized with the same finish color as the shade or choose a contrasting color like Melanie did for even more visual interest.

“I like the look of the lights,” Melanie says. “I went with a galvanized theme and these were perfect! With a barbeque restaurant, nice rustic works for me!”
