Featured Customer | Buttery Yellow Warehouse Shade Adds Punch of Color to Creative Studio

No matter what kind of a day you’re having, nothing brings a smile faster than a big, bold splash of yellow. Whether it’s the brilliant sun, a field of goldenrod, or a new lemony quilt on the bed, yellow makes any space cheerful and bright. When the ladies of Karen Kimmel Studio and Crafting Community moved into their shared quarters in Atwater Village in Los Angeles, they used a Buttery Yellow pendant from Barn Light Electric to help transform the rather cold, masculine space into a colorful and dynamic working environment that allows the group’s overabundance of creativity to flow.

The renovated building and the creative minds that work there were featured recently in a Workspace Tour on Apartment Therapy. Marissa Textor, studio manager for Karen Kimmel, shared these photos of one of the areas in the building where employees can sit with a client or simply enjoy a few moments away from the desk. Hanging overhead is our 24″ Original™ Warehouse Pendant in a creamy Buttery Yellow finish.

The Original™ Warehouse Pendant is a classic factory light that once provided illumination to production and manufacturing workers hunched over long tables. The utilitarian design of this American made pendant has not changed much since the early 20th century when it was widely used in factories and warehouses. Handcrafted by our metal artisans from a single sheet of commercial-grade aluminum, the Original™ comes in a wide range of sizes — from 12″ to a whopping 28″ — and a palette of powder coat finish colors that would make Pablo Picasso swoon.

Whereas early factory lights tended to be simple, today’s warehouse shades come with a variety of stylish options including cast guard and glass or wire cage add-ons. Creating a family of lighting in your own commercial space is easy with the matching Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Light, the Original™ Stem Mount, and the Original™ Wall Sconce.
