Professional's Corner | American-Made Lighting a Priority for St. Pete Builder
As a certified building contractor and owner of Little Yellow House, Inc., Don Gelsinger spends a lot of time thinking about other people’s spaces. Last year, however, he and his wife, Andrea, took a hard look at their own space and realized they needed to separate their home-based business from their personal space. “We built a new detached garage/office suite last year,” Andrea says, noting that “it was the best idea we ever had!” Since their neighborhood is on the shores of Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, the couple live a “salty life” where they boat, fish, and take advantage of the chamber-of-commerce weather year... For lighting, she chose hand-crafted fixtures from Barn Light Electric. “On my first contact with Barn Light Electric, they understood I wasn’t just building a barn,” Pat says. “I was working on a project I had imagined for years!” Wednesday’s post featured the exterior lighting and main floor of the barn, and today, we head upstairs... Guest Blogger | When Old Meets New: Vintage Touches for the Contemporary Home
Living in a contemporary home and appreciating history don’t have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, the real design magic happens when old meets new, or when a vintage aesthetic gets a mod twist. The marriage of past and present is an important part of the Barn Light Electric ethos, which, with the help of highly skilled American artisans, has spent nearly a decade reviving the lost American art form of hand-spun porcelain lighting. Today, when most have abandoned this craft for less-expensive manufacturing methods, BLE is the only company in America producing traditional porcelain enamel lighting made for the present-day lifestyle. ...
